Developed by Mubunsai Misono and his son Isai Misono, they established this technique during the Edo era in Japan.
Generally, Hammer Acupuncture is performed to the abdomen. This became known as the Mubunryu Style and was used in the imperial court in the late l500's.
This form of traditional therapy used gold needles that were held at reactive points on the abdomen and lightly struck with a wooden hammer made of ebony at a rhythmic rate.
More recently, Fujimoto Rempu of Nara Prefecture reproduced the hammer and needle for modern use.
Doctor Yoshio Manaka went on to develop what is now known as the Manaka Hammer. These modifications facilitate either firm tapping or very light tapping which may be required on sensitive patients or sensitive surfaces such as hard or bony surfaces where the thicker end of the wooden needle is held at the skin.
When Manaka's hammer and needle is used correctly, the blow is quite resonant and is used on other areas of the body following the Channel System and Acupoint theory. Utilizing Manaka's metronome frequency relationships for each channel can further enhance the simplicity and effectiveness of stimulating relevant acupoints.
Essentially, tapping the points at a rate corresponding to the channel on which the point lies tends to further enhance the tapping stimulation effect.

Topics to be covered will be:

•        How to use the Mallet and Silver Needle

•        Abdominal-Hara Patterns for the Mubunryu Style

•        Tapping Techniques: Hibiki no hari, Kachibiki no hari, Makebiki no hari, Aibiki no hari and Sharin no hou

•        Constitutional Treatments

•        Symptomatic Treatments covering a wide range of internal diseases states and muscular-tendino conditions

•        Methods to advance the treatment result

YOUR PRESENTER: CHRIS BRAMHILL

Chris completed his studies in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at the Sydney  College of TCM in 1992 before completing an internship in Hangzhou, China that same year. After travelling within China for a few months Chris returned to Hangzhou for further work and studies in Paediatrics and Gynaecology.

Since returning to Australia in 1993 Chris has established a successful practice in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Newcastle, NSW.

In 2010 he completed 3 years of Mandarin studies as part of a BA at Newcastle University with the aim of one day translating texts.

Whilst travelling Europe in 2013 Chris met the Principal of the London College of Chinese Medicine and began learning the art of making oils and balms using Chinese herbs and    various carrier oils. It is the simplicity of making these oils and balms, as well as revisiting the functions and topical applications of many Chinese herbs, that Chris wishes to pass on to other practitioners in this practical, hands on seminar.
